Hawaii Dietetic Association Strategic Plan: 2007 through 2012
MISSION
Leading the future of dietetics practice and profession.
VISION
Hawaii Dietetic Association members are on the forefront of the food and nutrition movement in Hawaii.

GOALS, OBJECTIVES (STRATEGIES), TACTICS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
GOAL 1: Build an aligned, engaged, and diverse membership.
OBJECTIVE (STRATEGY) 1: Market relevant benefits to targeted segments of current and prospective members.
TACTIC 1: Provide at least four events for members to be involved in both social and CEU events.

TACTIC 2: Increase membership voting by 10% by providing incentives for members to vote.

- Target Completion Date: May 2008 and annually thereafter
TACTIC 3: Increase student membership by 5% per year by providing at least two outreach activities.

TACTIC 4: Plan and implement a mentorship program to students and new dietitians.

OBJECTIVE (STRATEGY) 2: Advocate for key food, nutrition, and health initiatives
TACTIC 1: RD licensure in Hawaii will be implemented and available for all dietitians
- Responsible: President, Public Policy Committee, Lobbyist
- Resources Needed: Time, Money, and Volunteers (as needed)
- Target Completion Date: May 2009
TACTIC 2: Participate in the Healthy Hawaii Initiative (HHI) as a coalition member of the Hawaii Physical Activity and Nutrition (PAN) Plan (2007-2012).
- Responsible: State Policy Representative, BOD
- Resources Needed: Time. Other resources to be determined later
- Target Completion Date: 2012
TACTIC 3: Monitor and identify key nutrition related legislation and initiatives in the state and provide input for at least one topic per year.

- Resources Needed: Lobbyist, HDA listserv, website, money, time
- Target Completion Date: January 2008 and ongoing

OBJECTIVE (STRATEGY) 3: Increase public awareness and promote use of members’ services.
o TACTIC 1: Launch new HDA website and update member communication services according to needs.
- Responsible: HDA Webmaster

- Target Completion Date: New website achieved November 2007. Service updates will occur as appropriate
TACTIC 2: Update worksite information and list of current members who provide services to the general public and/or other health professionals on the website.
- Responsible: HDA Webmaster
- Resources Needed: HDA listserv, Website, and ADA Find a Dietitian
- Target Completion Date: May 2008. Regularity or ongoing updates to be determined later
TACTIC 3: Assess current environment and educate membership regarding reimbursement for RD services (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid MNT reimbursements).
